Display Units as Custom Formats

October 15, 2019
A person selects some data and creates a custom format for "feet" so each number shows the text "ft" after it.

When doing calculations in Excel, you often have to deal with units. One way to manage this is to create a custom format for each unit.

To do this, select your data, and choose Format Cells > Number > Custom. Then, add the text for the unit to the end of your custom format.

This approach ensures that the units don't interfere with any of your formulas or calculations. Perfect!
