Freeze Rows and Columns in Excel

July 23, 2019
A user selects the spreadsheet data and clicks 'View Panes' to freeze the first row and column when browsing the data.

Freezing your row or column headers in Excel makes it much easier to browse large datasets without getting lost.

To freeze parts of your spreadsheet, select the region you DON'T want frozen, browse to the View tab, and click "Freeze Panes." This will create freeze boundaries outside your selection.

You can freeze any number of row and columns this way. Just keep in mind that the more you freeze, the less space you have for navigating your data
